My Approach

At the core of all we do together is compassion-based; compassion for suffering, compassion for the highs, lows, and in-betweens, of simply being a human with a differently wired brain.

Within a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship, and building that gradually together, it is much easier to hold space to explore, heal, grow, and express kindness and compassion towards yourself, in all of your strengths and challenges.

I lean towards radical acceptance, which is helpfully summed up by Carl Rogers: β€œThe curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” I value supporting you to live in alignment with your unique combination of values, desires, needs, neurotype, and what you find necessary to build an authentic, meaningful life.

I may provide skills and recommendations for books/articles/resources as needed, and at the same time, oftentimes the most helpful skills-building and problem-solving endeavors come out of a deeper self-understanding, rather than a solely trial-and-error approach.

I believe in the importance of collaboration and open, straightforward communication, and strongly encourage your input and feedback about the direction of our work and what may be most helpful for you at the moment.

I tailor our work together to match your needs by drawing from multiple evidence-based approaches, which may include:

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy

  • Self-Compassion and Mindfulness

  • Person-Centered Therapy

  • Strengths-Based Therapy
